Our Invitation to You
Written By Rob Kirkbride, Editor-in-chief, OI Publications • January 13, 2025

When I first started covering this industry more than 25 years ago, I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed. It took me a long, long time to feel completely comfortable covering this industry and build credibility. It took at least five years — and really, more like 10 — to understand all the workings, lingo and learn about the companies and people in it.
Early in my career covering this industry, I was lost at NeoCon. I didn’t get the pricing model (not sure if I still understand it today). I knew the companies in West Michigan where I live, but I had to learn about the patchwork of companies across the country and around the world.
I’m still learning to this day. And I need your help.
Consider this an open invitation: As editor of officeinsight and viewpoint magazines, I invite you to fully participate in both our publications. You might ask, “How can I participate in industry publications like officeinsight and viewpoint.”
It’s easy. Reach out. Our magazines are designed to be resources for our industry. We want to tell your stories, whether that is through effective (and increasingly interactive) advertising, sending us your press releases or story ideas. We are also looking for contributing columnists for viewpoint magazine.
We rely on you to tell us what you are looking for from our publications as well. What topics do you want us to cover? What can we do to help you do your job even better?
We have a schedule of fantastic topics for you in viewpoint magazine this year, but magazines are adaptable. If a hot topic arises, we can shift gears easily. Let us know what topics interest you.
Keeping up on industry news takes time and effort on your part, but we promise, it will be worthwhile and help you in your job. The world of work is experiencing a profound transformation, driven by technological advancements and shifting societal dynamics. In the face of economic uncertainties, workforce demographic shifts, and evolving employee expectations, understanding these emerging patterns is more important than ever.
Other issues like DEI, the environment and sustainability and hybrid work models continue to evolve.
These are the important topics and ones you need to keep track of. We are committed to doing the same, with your help.
Reach out to me at rob@officeinsight.com. I’d love to hear from you, even if it is just to catch up or say “hello.”
