INDEAL Expands Design Capacity for Dealers and Brand Partners
Written By Rob Kirkbride, Editor-in-Chief, OI Publications • August 17, 2026

INDEAL has expanded its design support with Design Outsourcing — a new offering that gives both INDEAL Dealers and Brand Partners access to additional design capacity when they need it.
It is a big deal, because capacity, not creativity, is the constraint most often slowing projects down. Dealers have said for years that they can win the business faster than they can staff it. Manufacturers, increasingly asked to support Dealers deeper into the specification process, have the same problem in reverse. INDEAL’s answer is to put additional design capacity in the middle of that gap and let both sides draw from its experience.
For Dealers, Design Outsourcing builds on the Design Services already available to them. Design Services breaks into a few different lanes. Product Assist is the front door — a Dealer sends a photo or description of a hard-to-place item and INDEAL’s team returns a set of product recommendations. Bid Support does something similar at the line-item level: send project details, and the team builds a presentation of alternates for a bid. Rep Outreach is more of a connector function, routing a request to the right territory rep for fast, accurate pricing.
Those three are included services for Dealer members. The newer piece, Design Outsourcing, is available to both Dealers and Brand Partners at a competitive rate and goes further: floorplan population, budgetary product specification, 2D floorplans, simple renderings and CET drawings and .SIF file production. INDEAL notes that this offering is an extension of internal teams rather than a replacement for them, meant to let a Dealer or manufacturer hand off the mechanical, time-consuming parts of a project without adding headcount.
The work is handled by a team carrying years of design experience and deep product knowledge across the industry’s product landscape.
The design-capacity problem isn’t new, but it has gotten more expensive to ignore. Dealer design teams are routinely asked to do more with the same or fewer people — populate a floorplan same-week, turn a bid around before a competitor does, chase down a niche SKU a client saw on Pinterest — all while carrying the specification workload for jobs already in progress. When capacity runs short, the costs show up in slower bid turnaround that costs deals outright, staff pulled off higher-value client work to do rote drafting, and senior designers spending hours on product research that a database search should handle in minutes.
Manufacturers feel a parallel version of the same squeeze. They are increasingly expected to support Dealers further downstream by helping fill in floorplans, generating alternates, doing the legwork that used to sit entirely with the Dealer without necessarily having the internal design staff to absorb it. A brand that can’t help a Dealer move a bid forward risks losing the spec to a competitor that can.
That’s the gap INDEAL is stepping into by opening Design Outsourcing to both sides of its network at once. Rather than each Dealer and each manufacturer building or expanding an internal design bench to absorb demand spikes, INDEAL is positioning Design Outsourcing as shared, on-demand capacity; a bench both sides can pull from as project loads shift, without carrying the fixed cost of additional staff.
Limited design capacity is a tax on deals across the industry. INDEAL members interested in Design Outsourcing can request support or schedule an overview directly.
