I don’t know about you guys, but Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. It is a holiday where gifts are not exchanged, which takes away the pressure of finding the right thing or leaving you wondering whether it was “enough.” Thanksgiving isn’t concerned with consumerism (we worry about that the next day on Black Friday).
Instead, Thanksgiving is focused on just what’s in its name — being thankful for what we have.
Being grateful for our abundance naturally turns our attention toward giving back to others, which is exactly what Giving Tuesday is all about. Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, a global generosity movement that takes place each year after Black Friday. It is a time when charities, companies, and individuals come together to support causes they believe in.

Giving Tuesday is celebrating its 10th anniversary tomorrow and the movement has grown into a year-round worldwide initiative that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give generously to the charities and communities that they care about.
I tend to give to charities where my money can really make a difference and in areas that inspire me. This year, I’ve focused my giving on two areas: war relief in Ukraine and education. I’m not a rich man, but it makes me feel good to give the little money that I’m able to organizations that are moving the needle.
Another charity I feel strongly about is INDEAL Cares, the first industry-wide charity that focuses on workplace health and empowers individuals through workplace tools, education and support. The charity does this by focusing on four areas of work: Active Living, Disease Prevention, Mental Health, and Spine Health. Learn more at Employee Health & Wellness | INDEAL Cares.
If you’re interested in supporting INDEAL Cares, you can donate through the I Care campaign and choose to direct your contribution toward the development of tools and resources for the industry, identify a specific charitable partner and/or health stream, or simply invest where the funds are most needed. It is the perfect charity if you are looking for something that your entire team and organization can get behind.
INDEAL Cares was established in 2020 with a clear vision: to revolutionize the health and well-being of employees in North America – and globally – through a commitment to workplace wellness. It is a true charity for our industry, a chance for all of us to put our money where our mouth is. If we care about workplace health and safety, it is a no-brainer.
If you are anything like me, giving can be a bit overwhelming. I always wish I could give more. This frustration sometimes leads me to not give at all, which is wrongheaded. Every little bit counts. You don’t have to make a massive sacrifice to make a big difference in someone’s life.
We are an industry filled with big-hearted, generous folks. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all get behind I Care and make a real difference? I think we can. Let’s start tomorrow with Giving Tuesday.
It has been quite a year for me, filled with extremely positive changes and a fair number of hiccups. Even through the roughest times, I’ve kept an attitude of gratitude. I have a job I adore in an industry I love. I have wonderful family, a warm, comfortable house, food on the table, incredible opportunities in front of me and lots of friends. I am truly blessed.
So let’s make this Giving Tuesday meaningful. Learn more about the I Care Campaign and see how your organization can get involved. We won’t get anywhere unless we all row together.
